Sabrina Carpenter: a Hyper-Feminine Style Icon

From beginning her career as a Disney Channel star to selling out arenas worldwide, Sabrina Carpenter has cemented her status as the current princess of pop with the widespread success of her recently released Short n Sweet album. The actress turned pop star kicked off her sold out tour in Columbus, Ohio on Monday, dressed in an adorable pink Victoria Secret babydoll nightgown layered over a glittery corset, paired with matching glitter suspenders and white Mary Jane pumps. With her hair styled in voluminous vintage curls, the star looked like a cross between Marilyn Monroe and a retro Barbie doll.

As well as releasing the pop music of the moment, Carpenter is known for her unapologetically girly style, often being compared to a Polly Pocket doll whilst adorned in items from feminine clothing brands such as Sandy Liang and Mirror Palais. Teen Vogue have described Carpenter’s style as ‘’flirty, fun, and feminine, often using matching gloves, necklaces, platform shoes, belts, corsets, and lots of glitter to accessorise and style different looks.’’ Carpenter is a big fan of Ukrainian designer FROLOV, having performed at the 2023 Jingle Bell Ball in a custom red mini dress with a cut out heart from the brand, and wore a yellow mini dress in a similar style for the 2024 Govenor’s Ball in June. Carpenter’s unabashed girlishness also goes beyond just her clothing, with her sets incorporating heart motifs and her lyrics often reading out ‘’like a close friend dishing out secrets at a slumber party.’’
