Danielle, known online as @butttacup, is a 25 year old influencer with an avid audience of over 300,000 followers and an Instagram feed that exudes real-life fairy princess energy!

How would you describe your Instagram brand/ aesthetic?

‘’I’d describe my brand as a cross breed of cottagecore, coquette, princesscore and fairycore all rolled into one! I love combining all these aesthetics and creating something magical.’’

How long have you been a content creator, and what inspired you to start creating hyper-feminine content?

‘’I’ve always loved the colour pink and in 2019 when the Y2K trend first rolled around I decided to start creating content on Instagram! I fell in love with embracing my girliness and the community of fellow hyper-feminine lovers.’’

Are there any particular brands or style icons that inspire your hyper-feminine outfits?

‘’I’m hugely influenced by fictional characters such as Barbie, Princess Aurora and Cinderella. I also really love Sabrina Carpenter’s style at the moment! Brands that inspire me are Lacemade, Selkie, For Love and Lemons, Jessakae, Fanciful Doll, Maison Amory, House of CB (especially their Spring collections) - I could go on for so long I have so many!’’

What style tips would you give to someone who wants to start dressing in the girly aesthetic?

‘’Definitely utilise Pinterest! It has been my best friend whilst I’ve discovered my style, there is so much outfit inspo out there and having a moodboard of inspo makes it so much easier to create an outfit! Wear what makes you feel happy, comfortable and confident.’’

Are you connected with other creators who create girly-girl or hyper feminine content? What is the community like?

‘’Yes there’s a whole community of like-minded girly content creators and it is SO lovely! I have never felt more comfortable and welcomed into a group before, we all make sure to uplift/support each other's content. It’s so nice to feel seen and understood in a world full of judgement when it comes to hyper-femininity!’’

Have you ever experienced any backlash or challenges when creating hyper-feminine content on social media?

‘’I’ve had comments here and there telling me to grow up and that I’m weird for having the style that I do at my age - I personally don’t let it get to me because the positive comments always outweigh the bad! I understand it comes from a place of projection so I just hope that they’re able to find something that brings them joy the way that I have.’’

What are some of your favourite outfits you’ve posted on Instagram?

‘’I have this one dress from House of CB that I photographed in all the daisies in my garden that I absolutely love! It was actually really cold that day and the weather was horrible about an hour later but I was determined to capture it as soon as it arrived (see here). I love the vintage style print and the lace underskirt, it was just the perfect girly dress to kick off Spring!’’
